While not all programs are created equal, use the following guiding questions to help you determine if the program is right for you: Is the training paid or does it provide a stipend that enables you to cover your expenses (whether full or partial) so that you can properly plan for yourself or your family? Are there opportunities to connect with instructors or program leaders to help you determine if the program would be a good fit for your goals? Does the program have a timeline for completion, a helpful staff, a positive cohort of students? Does the program have a track record of placing people into fullâtime jobs? Whom does the program name as its key employers? Does the program offer any additional support services that would help you participate in the program? Do they offer services like child care, stipends, transportation support, computer devices, or other supports if you need them? (Location 1211)

charged clients anywhere from $100 to $300 to send a press release to our contacts. The site wasnât fancy. I paid a classmate from the design program $150 for a basic design and built a contact form where customers could upload their resumes, select the types of publications they wanted their press releases to be shared with, and hit âsubmit.â Iâd then create a segment within our email service provider, and schedule the press release. That small business paid the rent for about a year. If I had taken the time to automate it, it could have grown, but I grew tired and disenchanted with the concept and was ready to try something new. Not to mention that, during that time, we were headed into a recession, where most PR and marketing teams were being cut or spending was reduced significantly, and most of our business began to dry up. The point is, I was able to quite easily, for less than $500, launch a business, start working with clients, and quickly start earning revenue. (Location 2182)

According to Pew Research, about oneâthird of disabled students between 2017 and 2018 had a specific learning disability, 20 percent had a speech or language impairment, and 15 percent had chronic or acute health problems that adversely affected their performance at school. So how did school districts manage these barriers as schools shut down? Most school officials admitted that they struggled to meet the needs of students and families with these unique challenges. Students managing anxiety or attentionâdeficit disorders benefited from the removal of distractions and social pressure and thrived academically, though for most students supported by a special education curriculum, personalized learning plans, and teacher support, technology was not a cureâall for those of them who required more handsâon support, routine, and systems to stabilize learning and maintain a sense of self. Some parents saw a stark regression in their childâs learning as instruction slowed down and oneâonâone support was nonexistent. (Location 3148)
